Becoming an esthetician was a natural career choice for me. From an early age I remember be very intrigued by my mom’s skincare and makeup in the bathroom cupboard. I couldn’t wait to be old enough to start using the same products. I loved the pink packaging, the lipsticks and eyeshadow compacts, and all the beautiful bottles lined up together. My mom taught me how to care for my skin at around the age of 12. She showed me how to cleanse, most importantly, twice a day, then tone and moisturize, the basics. I learned how important it is to wash your face, never go to bed with makeup on and always start your day with a refreshing cleanse. From those days, and every day since, my skincare routines have been almost ritualistic. Professional products were always my go-to and still are. As my regimens evolved, adding serums and treatment products into the lineup, so did my love for good ingredients. Somehow, I always knew how important it is to put only good stuff on my skin.
As a mom of two, I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at home and raise my daughter and son. I had a few part-time evening jobs throughout those years, but always wanted to do something where I cared for people, women especially. In 2011 I went back to school full time to become a medical spa therapist. After thirteen months of studying and practicing I was finally able to start working in a spa. Working in a few spas was the best education and really fun, but I always wanted something of my very own. Watching my self-employed parents build several successful businesses I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I’ve never been afraid of hard work. And being passionate about all-things-skincare, my new venture would be very rewarding. In 2019 a series of events led me to be able to start my own esthetics business, Studio70 Skincare.
Now I had the freedom to deliver that deep, personalized care to my clients by allowing more time to connect during appointments, not rushing but really spending time sharing knowledge and self-care tips, and answering questions. Encouraging women (and some men) to know they are ALL beautiful and worth the commitment of caring for themselves, daily. What seems like a small thing, washing your face and applying moisturizer, can be huge in how we feel about ourselves. That little routine is YOUR time. I like to encourage consistent nurturing of one’s self. Develop a self-care routine that feels comfortable and meaningful to you, not one that your best friend or neighbour has, but one that works for you. We are not striving for perfection here, but I believe that helping women honour their real beauty, inside and out, builds confidence no matter what sort of skin concerns or conditions are happening. Skin is ever-changing and so are we! Results come from consistency over time, and that is what I am here for. To be your skin advisor, your cheerleader. You can trust in my services and the products that I recommend. You can come-as-you-are and leave feeling even better!
Fast forward to early 2020 when Covid-19 hit. Having to shut down my new little spa was a blessing and a curse. I missed my clients and my idle hands were antsy not being able to give facials and massage, but this down time gave me a chance to really dive into skincare products and their ingredients. Knowing that I only want the best for mine and my client’s skin, I spent months working with a lab developing skincare products that have only good ingredients (no nasties) and are for everyone. And that’s when JANE BEAUTY was born. JANE is not just a skincare line, JANE stands for skin wellness, comfort, honesty and real results. Your skin is your largest organ and it deserves to be cared for in a gentle yet effective way. With JANE you will feel the difference on your skin, and your commitment to caring for your body will carry through to how you feel about yourself. You are entitled to feel worthy and cared for, and I am so excited to share JANE BEAUTY with you!
I am very blessed to have found my passion. I can assure you that I will give 100% each and every time we connect, inside the treatment room, over the phone or for a virtual online appointment. I will do everything I can to help you achieve the results you want. If there is something that is beyond my scope of practice, I will refer you to a dermatologist or medical professional. My hope is that you will enter my treatment room as a guest, but you will leave as a friend. I look forward to working with you!
